How to convert a project to a consultation or a consultation to a project
Updated over a week ago

Have you recently created a project with us and our experts (or support agents) are advising you that your project is better suited starting out as a consultation?

In this article we are going to show you two ways that you can convert your project to a consultation.

Converting a project to a consultation from within the Workroom:

Inside your workroom at the top right hand side of the screen you should see a large button that reads CONVERT TO CONSULTATION. Click this button and a popup dialog should appear to walk you through the conversion process.

Converting a project to a consultation from within your Dashboard:

If you access your dashboard, you should be able to see all your active projects. Please find the project you would like to convert and look for the button under it labeled CONVERT TO CONSULTATION. Click this button and a popup dialog should appear to walk you through the conversion process.

Converting consultations back to projects

As long as no experts have applied for your consultation, you should always have the option to toggle back and forth between the consultation and project states. Just look in the same locations for buttons with the label CONVERT TO PROJECT , click them, and you should be good to go!

Learn more about consultations!

Consultations are a quick an inexpensive way to meet 1-on-1 with a developer. Through consultations you will quickly improve your relationship with your potential expert as well as communicate your vision and goals more clearly than the written word can often convey.

Consultations will often lead to:

  • A more accurate project estimate

  • A greater sense of confidence shared between expert and client

  • A stronger personal and professional relationship with your expert of choice

*In consultation projects no work is actually performed by a Codeable Expert. Instead, projects are discussed on a theoretical level, typically followed by an additional estimate to perform hands-on work*
